The Saenger Theatre will reopen tomorrow, Dec. 11, after a
two-month closure due to the Hard Rock Hotel collapse. Show-goers, residents and commuters are encouraged to plan ahead for traffic and parking restrictions in the area for tomorrow’s show and the subsequent performances scheduled in the near future at the Saenger.
Upcoming show times include:
Pick Up and Drop Off
The Saenger has designated a drop off and pick up area in the parking lane on the lake side of Basin Street between Canal and Iberville streets, across the neutral ground from the theater’s entrance. Taxis and shared ride services are encouraged to drop off and pick up in this area.
Traffic Closures
In order to facilitate increased pedestrian traffic at the theater’s entrance, the river side of Basin Street will be reduced to one travel lane from Canal to Iberville streets roughly two hours before each performance. This travel lane will be closed entirely to traffic for a short period of time after each performance has ended to safely allow pedestrians to cross Basin Street. Detailed New Orleans Police Department officers will provide traffic control services during each performance.
Rampart Street from Iberville to Canal streets, Iberville Street from Burgundy to North Rampart streets, and Canal from Elk Place to Burgundy Street will remain closed due to the hotel collapse evacuation zone.
Parking Restrictions
No parking zones will be in place on the 100 and 200 blocks of Basin Street and on the 1200 block of Iberville. Parking enforcement personnel will be monitoring for illegal parking.
The Rampart Garage will remain closed due to the hotel collapse evacuation zone. For more information about parking options for show goers, visit https://www.saengernola.com/info/parking-directions.
