French Quarter Road Closure: Wednesday, May 16, 2018

Traffic Advisory: 100 Block of Bourbon Street

The City of New Orleans, Department of Public Works (DPW) will close the 100 block of Bourbon Street to vehicular traffic starting on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at 8 a.m. for approximately one week to reconnect a sewer line as part of the French Quarter Infrastructure Improvement Project Phase I. Public safety is our top priority; residents and commuters are reminded to use caution when driving, bicycling and walking near this area.

Work will include removing a concrete panel from the roadway and 10-foot section of the river-side sidewalk (adjacent to the True Religion Store) on Bourbon St. to reconnect the sewer line; the line was not reconnected during Phase I construction because it was considered to be abandoned.

The sewer line reconnection will cost approximately twenty five thousand to complete; the cost will be shared between DPW and the Sewerage & Water Board of New Orleans.

Drivers are encouraged to use Decatur or North Rampart streets as alternative routes.

French Quarter Infrastructure Improvement Project Update

The City will go to bid for Phase II work on Bourbon Street between St. Louis and Dumaine streets (500 – 800 blocks) in the coming weeks; construction is expected to begin in August 2018.
