2016 Satchmo SummerFest – information/awareness
The 16th Annual Satchmo SummerFest, Friday, August 5-7, is in Jackson Square, Le Petit Theatre, the Cabildo’s Arsenal building, Washington Artillery Park, and the French Market Parking Lot.
2016 Satchmo SummerFest Dates and Hours:
Wednesday, August 3rd – French Quarter Festivals, Inc. begins load in at Jackson Square
Thursday, August 4th – kickoff concert and party at Le Petit Theatre (6:30 p.m.) followed by second line to Omni Royal Orleans (7:45 p.m.)
Friday, August 5th – festival 11 a.m. – 9 p.m.
Saturday, August 6th – festival 11 a.m. – 9 p.m.
Sunday, August 7th – festival : 11 a.m. – 8 p.m. (11:30 a.m. Second line parade from St. Augustine Church in Treme to Jackson Square (route: Esplanade to Decatur. Should arrive at Jackson Square, Decatur Street gate, around 1 p.m.)
Monday, August 8th – by end-of-day, French Quarter Festival completes load out of Jackson Square
- No street closures are planned for Satchmo SummerFest, except the moving closure for the Sunday morning second line parade.
- Beginning Wednesday, August 3rd, horse carriages will be restaged to the Bienville Triangle and the hack stand at 600 St. Louis
- Empire Services and Ramelli will provide special event sanitation
- Event Restrooms will provide regular and air-conditioned port-o-lets behind Washington Artillery Park and in the French Market lot.
- Festival has an admission fee of $5/person. Children 12 and under are free
- NOPD and F.E.S.S. Inc. will provide security details throughout the weekend
- New Orleans EMS and Tulane Nurses will be on site throughout the weekend
- New Orleans Fire Department will be on site all days of Festival to conduct fire watch for food vendors
