Beginning on Friday, July 24, 2020, weather permitting, the City of New Orleans Department of Public Works contractor Hard Rock Construction, LLC will temporarily reopen the intersection of Dauphine and St. Ann streets and close the intersection of Bourbon and St. Ann streets. The closure is required to accommodate utility upgrades and repairs as part of the $2.2 million St. Ann Full Depth Reconstruction Project. Public safety is our priority; flaggers and signage will be in place at Bourbon Street and Orleans Avenue to direct traffic during the closure.
The intersection at Dauphine and St. Ann streets, which has been closed for several months, will be back filled with asphalt while it is temporarily reopened; crews will return in late August and close intersection for approximately two more weeks to resolve a utility conflict. The work in the Dauphine and St. Ann intersection will not resume until the utility upgrades and repairs are completed at Bourbon and St. Ann streets and that intersection has reopened to vehicular traffic.
The entire project is scheduled to be completed in September 2020, weather permitting. To date, crews have completed installing the new sewer line and are currently working on the new drain line. Once that is complete, they will begin the water main installation and subsequent tie-in and then restore the roadway. After the roadway reopens, crews will begin work on the sidewalks.
